The first thing you see when you drive up the “ferry hill” upon arriving on Denman Island is a charming heritage house, lovingly restored and painted a vibrant chartreuse. This house is the Denman Island Arts Centre, the hub of many Arts Denman activities, and a resource for all islanders. The exterior walls of the house are hung with large bright murals celebrating the community art spirit. A whimsical artist-made fence surrounds sweet cottage garden plantings and outdoor seating under heritage shade trees. Enclosed by a wrap-around porch, the Arts Centre offers a modest but beautiful space for exhibits, classes, workshops, meetings, community art projects, film showings, festive gatherings, and more. Its location in the heart of the Denman Village is within walking distance of the Ferry terminal, and close to shops and cafes.

Host an Exhibit
This welcoming space is equipped with pristine white walls, picture rails, six easels, and gallery lighting, making the perfect place to host your own exhibit. The option to exhibit here is open to artists from on and off-island.
Teach a Workshop
Lots of worktables and chairs are standard equipment. We welcome all kinds of arts related workshops and classes, but sorry, our insurance does not allow the space to be used for physical movement classes.
Show a Film, or Have a Film Festival!
We have lots of chairs, and a projector and screen, as well as a kitchen with a pass-through for serving refreshments.
Host an Art Jam
Bring the community together for a collaborative art project.
Teach an Ongoing Class
Plenty of evening times are open.
Start an Art Group
Get together with friends and practice your art in a welcoming space.
Rental Rates:
For Exhibits: and
$50 per day/ $125 for 3 days/ summer/ $125 for 5 days from January through April
For Workshops:
$75 per day, includes evening, set-up & clean-up time
For Ongoing Classes:
Once a week 4 hour time slots available, including set-up & clean-up time.
Rates: $35 per week for as many weeks as you want
For Non-Profit Activities:
Studio Groups are groups that meet without instructor to do arts and/ or crafts.
Weekly, dedicated 3-hour time slot, $50 per month
Pre-paid rate for 3 months: $135
For Meetings/ Gatherings:
Basic rate: All day use – $50. All day plus evening – $65.
One time use, up to 3 hours: $25. Available times: Morning (before noon), Afternoon, or Evening (after 7 PM)

The Main Studio
The main studio is a 15 x 30 classroom/studio space, equipped with tables, chairs and easels. It has natural light as well as incandescent track lighting. Weather permitting, use can extend to the 900 square foot covered, wrap-around porch, which has skylights and a charming view.

The Covered Porch
The large, wrap-around verandah offers 900 square feet of additional space for sketching or other outdoor activities. Covered for protection from the weather, with village and ocean views.
The Back Room
Rental of the Main Studio includes use of the Back Room. Facilities include a large sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and dishes.
Please note that storage facilities are not available for long term use.
Capacity: The main studio is appropriate for classes and workshops up to 16 people if seated at tables. For lectures and other events, the main floor can accommodate up to 25 people.
